Characteristics of White AshAsh sapwood is pale brown or creamy white, while the heartwood ranges from pale to dark brown. White Ash is paler in color than most commercial species, with a natural shine. Easily confused with butternut, ash can be distinguished by its grain, which resembles red oak. |
